Synfig: 2D Vector Animation Software

Originally downloaded 12/18/05. It’s interesting that this open source package requires X11 on the Mac. Of course, it’s still in a developer preview mode.

Update 10/25/06. OK, well I waited over 10 months, and there’s still no native binary for Mac OS X… In fact, as far as I can see there haven’t been any updates at all. With all the great software—including a boatload of great freeware—available for Mac OS X nowadays, I’m simply drawing the line at apps that have to be run in an X-Windows shell. I’m sure this would be great on Linux or other Unix systems where X is the shell you usually use for graphical apps, but it’s not so hot on Mac OS X.
