AliasInfoCM: A Contextual Menu To Reveal Aliases

Published December 12th, 2005

AliasInfoCM makes a contextual menu item to show source of aliases

AliasInfoCM contextual menuOriginally downloaded 12/12/05. This is a contextual menu item that will show the source of alias/symbolic links in the Finder.

Update 9/24/06. At least, that’s what it was supposed to do. One can probably have an overload of contextual menus, which I do, and when I went to update this item today I couldn’t find it in my Finder contextual menu. At first, I thought it was because I usually use symbolic links (Unix) instead of Apple’s OS 9-style “alias” links. But when I made an alias to test it with, I still couldn’t find any evidence. The software is definitely in my Contextual Menu Items folder (well, it was until I tossed it just now), but nada. Fortunately, Apple provides a “Show Original” item for this anyway…. I was hoping to see the original’s location inline, I guess. Oh well.

Version as tested: 1.0.
