Alahup! Provides a New Way To Make and Manage Web Sites
Still in beta testing, Alahup! is a new content management system for websites built in PHP and using either MySQL or Sqlite, plus Smarty templates and the Zend PHP optimizer. Alahup! is easy to set up if you already have a LAMP or MAMP site available, and there are downloads for Mac OS X, Windows, and Linux to registered visitors. I’ll report more after doing an evaluation, but here are the high-level features I’m expecting:
- Semantic editing - no code - through a customizable interface
- Interactive sitemap
- Version control
- Live website usage stats
- Database-driven content
- Image scaling
- Ajax techniques for an advanced “Web 2.0″ interface
The software comes with a live site preview in one window and the editor view in another. The editor appears to be totally written in Flash.
