TextMate — The ROR Editor-of-Choice on Mac OS X
Originally downloaded 3/14/06. Everywhere I turn, I see those bright, lovely colors of TextMate… usually in a video made by a project related to Ruby on Rails. I’ve resisted the thought of actually paying for another text editor, but decided it would be worth trying it, if only for the cool colors! (NOT)
Update 12/26/06. I’ve tried TextMate several times… thankfully, it keeps forgetting I haven’t paid and doesn’t shut itself off when I start it up again after a few months. It continues to get rave reviews, but I haven’t been convinced (yet) to pay for it. It’s been 4 or 5 months since my last tryout, though, and a lot has happened since then. So, I’m going to try it again soon. TextMate is just so much more complicated than I need/like. It’s the same reason I haven’t adopted Eclipse, I think. I just don’t need a programming tool that speaks so many languages and has so many plugins…
Version as tested: 1.5.4.
