WebObjects: First, Free. Next, Open Source!

Think Secret: WebObjects 5.4 going open source
I've always believed---based mostly on Apple's own heavy use of WebObjects on their very popular websites---that WebObjects deserved to be more widely used and respected than it is. I remember the product going back to the late 1990's, when it was one of several web application servers I considered for use on Citibank's Intranet. Too expensive and complicated then, it's become easier to use and less expensive since Apple purchased it. After making it free a couple of releases ago (was it with Tiger server?), Apple now apparently will be adding it to its list of open source projects. Great news! Hopefully it'll attract some more developers and mindshare to go with its obvious power.
