Nightly WebKit Downloader (automator workflow) - Automator Actions
Originally downloaded 9/17/06. When I first saw this go up recently, I thought, “Heck, it’s not that much trouble to download WebKit and replace it every time.” However, when I think about how often I do it… at least once or twice a day… those seconds do add up. So, I decided to try this action out.
If you’re using Tiger and regularly updating WebKit, I can safely recommend that you will love this Automator action. Fortunately, the author made the action editable, so I could modify it to (1) copy Drosera from the latest disk image as well, and (2) put WebKit in a subfolder under Applications. This was a piece of cake, and I added another step as well: The action finishes up by launching WebKit!
To really make this special for me, I customized an icon for the action and placed it on my Finder toolbar. Now, all I have to do to get the latest WebKit is click on that icon. Heck, I could go further and replace my Quicksilver trigger that launches WebKit with one that launches the action. Since WebKit is updated several times a day, it’s out of date within hours of a download, so that’s not an unreasonable prospect. If you’d like my copy of the action, complete with icon, feel free to get it from this link.
