Originally downloaded 10/1/06. Reading over the functions here do make my mouth water... Textreme seems to have gathered into one place most of the functions I often need when working with plain text files (like HTML, PHP, JavaScript, etc) for the web. It covers sophisticated search/replace, regular expressions, punctuation and spacing cleanup, special character handling, and more. Like BBEdit, it has the ability to save patterns, or templates, for specific kinds of cleanup. Most text editors have some of these features, but they're often either hidden in complicated menus, or not flexible enough to be useful. Still, $20 is a lot to pay for a text-editing add-on...
