iBank: Not Yet A Viable Quicken Alternative

Published January 8th, 2007

iBank - Finally everything you have ever wanted in a financial manager is here for the Mac.

iBank SoftwareOriginally downloaded 2/21/06. A reviewer on MacSlash today said this software could do it for him as a Quicken replacement. His major issue was bank statement reconciliation/synching. That isn’t mine, but it’s good to know it’s not a roadblock as has been the case with other Mac finance packages. Definitely worth a try.

Update 1/8/07. I finally got around to trying out iBank, and though there’s a lot to like, it’s not yet able to take the place of Quicken for me. See my January 2007 article, “Still Seeking Freedom From Quicken: Alternative Personal Finance Apps for Mac OS X” for details. I do plan to keep an eye on iBank, and will update this if it resolves some of the problems I noted.

Version as tested: 2.1.8.
