Main Page - EtoileWiki Etoile is the nicest GNUStep implementation I've yet seen. GNUStep is the open source descendent of the original NeXT OS, NeXTStep, from which Mac OS X is derived. Etoile aims to bring the NeXTStep GUI up to date a bit, adopting many of the niceties of Aqua. It's still in its infancy, but has a handful of core applications and will run any other GNUStep apps as well. According to the site, all of Etoile runs natively in Panther (Mac OS X 10.3), but since GNUStep hasn't caught up with the changes to Cocoa Apple made in Tiger, only some of the frameworks are Tiger-ready. If I ever get totally fed up with Apple's handling of Cocoa, I might find it appealing to run to something like Etoile.
